Inside The Unbound Travel Group
The Unbound Travel Group creates curated private and small group journeys across Asia for curious, independent travellers. Founded by Lincoln Harris, an expert in Asian travel with over two decades of experience, our group brings together four specialist brands: India Unbound, Sri Lanka Unbound, Remarkable East, and the soon-to-launch Asia Unbound. Each brand offers a distinct style of travel, but all share the same core values - thoughtful planning, responsible travel practices, and genuine local connections.
From custom private tours to expertly hosted small group trips, we design our journeys with care, based on lived experience and deep regional knowledge. We avoid large group tours, fixed schedules and tourist traps in favour of flexibility, insight and authenticity. Our team is based across Australia, India, and Sri Lanka, with trusted partners throughout the region. Whether you’re dreaming of tracking wildlife in central India, hiking in Bhutan, or discovering street food in Osaka, we offer expert guidance and personalised support every step of the way.
Meet Lincoln Harris
Lincoln Harris is the founder and Managing Director of the Unbound Travel Group, a collective of travel brands offering curated private and small group journeys across Asia. His deep connection with the region began at just 16 years old, when he travelled solo to India - a formative trip that sparked a lifelong interest in travel, people, and cultural exchange. After returning many times and immersing himself in India’s complex layers, Lincoln began leading small group tours in his early twenties, sharing what he’d discovered with fellow travellers. These early experiences set the tone for a travel philosophy centred on authenticity, flexibility and deep engagement with place.
In 2007, Lincoln founded India Unbound, a boutique travel company focused on custom-made private journeys throughout India. His approach was shaped by years of lived experience, including three years based in Mumbai, and countless journeys across the continent. He used this knowledge to craft itineraries that went far beyond the usual tourist circuits, blending iconic sights with lesser-known destinations, handpicked stays, and connections with knowledgeable local hosts. India Unbound quickly earned a reputation among Australian travellers for its insightful, individualised itineraries. Encouraged by its success and a growing demand from returning clients, Lincoln went on to establish Sri Lanka Unbound and, in 2017, Remarkable East, a small group tour company with a focus on cultural immersion and comfort.
At the heart of Lincoln’s work is a belief that travel should be meaningful, not just a checklist of sights. He is committed to responsible tourism, avoiding mass-market practices in favour of slow travel, genuine local partnerships, and experiences that reflect the character of a place. Now with Asia Unbound launching in 2025, Lincoln brings his expertise and values to a wider region, helping travellers explore countries like Bhutan, Vietnam, Japan, and Indonesia with the same thoughtful, custom-first approach. As the Unbound Travel Group grows, Lincoln remains closely involved in tour design and destination research, driven by the same curiosity and passion that first took him to India nearly three decades ago.

How We Work
-
The Unbound Travel Group is a boutique travel company offering curated private and small group journeys across Asia. Founded by travel expert Lincoln Harris, the group brings together four distinct brands: India Unbound, Sri Lanka Unbound, Remarkable East, and the soon-to-launch Asia Unbound. Each brand maintains its own identity while sharing a common philosophy - offering personalised, immersive, and thoughtfully designed travel that goes beyond the ordinary.
-
We’re not a large-scale tour operator, and we don’t run large coach tours designed to squeeze in 40+ people per trip. Instead, we focus on small group and private travel, with an emphasis on cultural insight, flexibility and authenticity. Our private tours are built entirely around you - from your interests and schedule to your budget and pace - while our group tours are limited to just 12 guests to allow for a more intimate and rewarding experience. Our team has lived and worked in the region, and we believe travel should be personal, well-paced, and respectful of the places and people we visit.
-
Across our brands, we offer a wide variety of travel experiences. These range from food-focused itineraries and wildlife safaris to architectural tours, walking holidays, and journeys through rural or remote regions. India Unbound, Sri Lanka Unbound, and Asia Unbound specialise in fully custom private touring, while Remarkable East offers small group tours with a dedicated host. Whether you’re looking to explore temple towns in South India, follow a cultural trail across Japan and Korea, or relax on Sri Lanka’s south coast, we create journeys that match your interests and travel style.
-
Absolutely! Asia Unbound is designed specifically for travellers wanting to explore more than one country in Asia in a single journey. We take care of all the logistics so you can focus on the experience, not the planning. Rather than dealing with multiple operators, you’ll have one point of contact and a consistent standard of service across borders. Whether it’s combining Vietnam and Cambodia or travelling from Bhutan to Japan, we make multi-country travel seamless.
-
Our guests are typically independent-minded travellers who value depth, comfort and flexibility. Many are experienced travellers who want to explore Asia in more meaningful ways, without the hassle of navigating it on their own. We work with solo travellers, couples, families, and small groups of friends, and our small group tours appeal to those who enjoy shared experiences without the structure or pace of larger group travel. If you’re looking for insight, characterful accommodation, local connection and well-considered itineraries, you’ll likely feel at home with us.
-
Yes, we certainly do. We have long-standing relationships with travel agents and welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively. Our team can assist with itinerary design, quotes, and client-facing documents, and we are happy to be as involved - or hands-off - as you need. We also offer training and support to agents unfamiliar with our destinations or style of travel, and regularly host familiarisation trips to that our community of agents can experience our product first-hand.
-
Entirely. Every private itinerary is planned from scratch based on your input. You choose the destinations, travel dates, accommodation style and experiences you’re interested in. Whether you want a heritage-focused trip, a nature-based adventure, or a relaxed food and wine journey, we tailor every element. We also build in flexibility on the ground, so you can make changes as you travel.
-
Yes. We regularly create itineraries for multi-generational families, older travellers, and those with specific accessibility or health considerations. We adjust the pace, accommodation and experiences accordingly and make sure there’s enough downtime where needed. On small group tours, our hosts are attentive and experienced in supporting a range of travel needs and styles.
-
When you travel with us, you’re never on your own. Our private tours include on-the-ground support through our local partners in each destination, as well as 24/7 emergency assistance. For group tours, a dedicated host accompanies you throughout the journey. We also provide pre-departure documentation, destination notes, and practical advice to ensure a smooth experience from start to finish.

The Unbound Travel Group is headquartered in Australia, with a core team based in Melbourne. We also have established offices in India and Sri Lanka, where our local teams manage on-ground operations and support. As part of our growth across Asia, we are expanding into Southeast Asia with a new office opening in Vietnam in late 2025. This regional presence allows us to offer in-depth knowledge, real-time support, and strong local partnerships in the countries where we operate.
